St. Andrew Church and Cypress Hotel Wedding in Cupertino, CA
Cypress Hotel Wedding Reception
Being in Silicon Valley a wedding couple has many choices for a hotel wedding reception. The Cypress Hotel in Cupertino was perfect for Olga and Simon. The hotel’s lobby is great for photography . We were able to do some photography of just Olga and Simon while the guests were at the cocktail hour. Olga wanted to make sure each guest receive a flower. Every place setting had a flower placed in an elegantly folded napkin. She also had personally decorated the place cards. The décor that they had chosen was very joyous. Perfect for an afternoon wedding.

Armenian wedding receptions start with the introduction of the bride and groom followed by a dance, which is exactly what Olga and Simon did.
After the best man’s toast, the mother of the bride, who had come from Russia for the wedding, gave a speech in Russian that was quite emotional. A friend of Simon’s translated the speech both to English and Armenian.
The wedding reception was simple yet elegant with a cutting of a cake and some dancing. The bride and groom wanted a few photographs by the water fountain in the Cypress Hotel, although the light was pretty harsh, we managed to do a few good shots.
Olga and Simon came referred to our studio by his cousin whose wedding we had photographed a few years earlier. During the initial consultation, we discussed what was important to them for their wedding photography. Olga wanted quality rather than quantity. It was important for Simon that I document the Armenian wedding ceremony.
About ten days before the wedding, we had a final consultation with the bride and groom. During this consultation we discuss all the details of the wedding photography. We agreed that it would work best them to start their photography coverage with the ceremony at St. Andrew Armenian Church in Cupertino, CA.
St. Andrew Armenian Church
I am very familiar with Armenian weddings and Orthodox weddings, which are very similar. I had to make sure that the exchanging of the rings, the drinking of the wine, the crown ceremony where the bride and groom are announced as king and queen and the blessing of the bride and groom were all documented. After an Armenian wedding ceremony a receiving line usually follows. In this case the newlywed couple wanted to spend some time mingling with their relatives and guests, they even posed for some pictures.
