Holbrook Palmer Park Wedding Photography – Becky & Ben

Holbrook Palmer Park Wedding Photography

In the San Francisco Bay Area we are fortunate enough to have good weather through October. This means that September is a busy wedding month. Holbrook Palmer Park wedding photography at this time of year is wonderful. We are able to capture all the images our couples want without having to cut into their reception for “soft light” photography. Such was the case for Becky and Ben’s Holbrook Palmer Park wedding photography.

All wedding photography was at Holbrook Palmer Park. Becky and Ben decided to finish most of their formal photography before the ceremony so they could enjoy time with their guest during their reception. Bride and groom solo portraits, the wedding party, families as well as formal extended family portraits were all completed before the ceremony. We even captured the girl’s red shoes and guy’s purple polka dot socks!

Double Happiness is a symbol we often see at Chinese weddings. From what I understand it is not only the couple but also the families who are being united in happiness. This was the case with Becky and Ben. Their wedding, on a gorgeous day at Holbrook Palmer Park in Atherton, CA, was a coming together of two people and two families in happiness. Becky and Ben brought together, in a wonderful way, 2 cultures rich with traditions. Becky is Jewish and Ben is Chinese.

The first thing I noticed was the modification Becky had made to her wedding dress. She had changed the sash on her wedding dress from the original ivory to a red and gold sash made from Chinese material. The chuppah (canopy), a symbol of the home that the new couple will build together, a Jewish wedding tradition was covered in a Chinese material similar to Becky’s sash. Becky’s shoes were red and gold. They signed a ketubah (marriage contract) another Jewish wedding tradition. One day before the wedding they had a tea ceremony, a Chinese wedding tradition. Double Happiness was on the wedding invitations and on the dinner tables. There were many other traditions from both cultures that were tastefully brought together for their wonderful wedding.

Becky and Ben exchanged ring wonderfully written vows. The ceremony also included 7 prayers-wishes from family and friends that were delivered in a “words of wisdom” manner. Both sets of parents were included.

At the reception they had an amazing Chinese Banquet prepared by Chef Chu’s of Los Altos, which ended with yummy mini cupcakes from Teacake Bake Shop of Burlingame. At this point everyone was ready to dance. Wow, what a group! Old and young were having a great time out on the dance floor. DJ Warren from Creative Soul Events kept them happy and dancing!
