Valley Presbyterian Church Wedding Photography

Valley Presbyterian Church Wedding Photography

Valley Presbyterian Church Wedding Photography with a wedding reception at the University Club in Palo Alto for Melissa and Josh. Two beautiful venues chosen by a great couple. This is how we documented their memories.

Pre wedding at Cornelis Bol Park in Palo Alto

Pre wedding photography started with getting ready shots of the bride. These photos included taking pictures of the bride’s gown and the dresses of the bridesmaid as well as the bride’s accessories like her necklace, shoes, bouquet… The pre wedding photos continued at a park close to where the bride was getting ready, Cornelis Bol Park in Palo Alto. Besides the portraits of the bride, her bridesmaids, maid and matron of honor we also took the first look. For this wedding we had two first look, the first was the first time her father saw her in her wedding dress (it was truly a special shot) and the second when the groom first laid eyes on his bride. Photos of both families, the groom and his attendants were also taken at Cornelis Bol Park in Palo Alto.

Wedding Ceremony at the Valley Presbyterian Church in Portola Valley

The Valley Presbyterian Church in Portola Valley is always a beautiful church for a wedding ceremony. The giant windows behind the alter look out on majestic redwoods. Though photographically a challenge, it is so beautiful. All the formal family photos we taken here too.

Wedding Reception at The University Club in Palo Alto

During the pre wedding day consultation with the couple where we plan out the wedding photography schedule with the couple, they decided they wanted to take a few shots on the beautiful grounds of the University Club. They decided on the signature bridge, a wonderful place for photography. The reception that followed was full of great speeches, special dances and fun!

We hope you enjoy these special photos.

Stanford Memorial Church Wedding Photography

Stanford Memorial Church Wedding Photography

Stanford Memorial Church Wedding Photography is always  beautiful. The campus is perfect for portraits and the Stanford Memorial Church is so majestic. Winnie and Trevor both attended Stanford so it was a perfect choice to have a Stanford Memorial Church Wedding to exchange their wedding vows.

Pre-Wedding Photography

We started portraits with Trevor, his family and best man. They wanted to do as many photos as possible before the wedding so they would not be too long getting to the reception after the ceremony. They decided on a “first look”. When we finished with Trevor’s family we let Winnie know we were ready and we captured the first look they shared before the wedding.

After their special moment, we photographed Winnie with her family (her brother was her man of honor). We took the time they had left before the ceremony to take some romantic photographs of Winnie and Trevor.

Then we were off to do our Stanford Memorial Church Wedding Photography.

After the ceremony and the formal family photos, friends and families went to the reception at the Bay Café is located on the Palo Alto Municipal Golf Course. We stayed at Stanford with Winnie and Trevor to do a few more photos of just the two of them around the front of Stanford Chapel. They wanted some shots that we don’t usually do like from Palm Drive with the church and oval in the background and the other way on Palm Drive toward downtown Palo Alto. Both were great angles!

Wedding reception at The Bay Café

When we finished we headed over to The Bay Café located on the Palo Alto Municipal Golf Course. Winnie changed into her red Chinese dress. They joined their friends and families for their party. While we were waiting we took photos of the details (flowers, guest book etc.) and some candid photos of the guests. All the formalities of the wedding like the toasts, first dance, parents’ dance, cutting of the cake etc. went smoothly. We even had some to take Winnie and Trevor out at dusk for some sunset shots on the golf green with the perfect light!

What a beautiful day it was for Elaine and Danny and their Hakone Estate and Gardens Wedding. Hakone Estate and Gardens with its stunning nature and beautiful landscaping was a perfect place for a wedding.

We started pre-wedding photography of Danny at their home with his family and Elaine at her parent’s home with her family. We did individual solo portraits and family group photos. We also made sure we had time to get a shot of Danny and Indie (their dog who couldn’t be at the wedding).

The “First Look” was at Hakone Gardens at the Upper House. It was a magical moment for both of them.

They decided to take most of the family photos that are usually taken after the ceremony before so that we could take a group shot of everyone and then go straight to the cocktail hour. It was a perfect plan.

The wedding ceremony was gorgeous. The gardens are such a beautiful setting to exchange wedding vows.

There were many children present at the wedding and even though they decided not to have dancing Elaine and Danny had a dance floor set up with toys for the kids to play with. It was a great way to keep them occupied during all the festivities.

During dinner after Elaine changed to her red Chinese gown we took them out for a few more photos during the wonderful soft light just before sunset.

The evening continued with Elaine and Danny visiting every table, an impromptu “first dance”, cake cutting, a slideshow and a glow stick send off.

Stanford Memorial Church Wedding

“I promise not to spill any food on your beautiful dress.” This was how Seth began his vows to Lilian during the ceremony!

What a lovely day for Lilian & Seth and their Stanford Memorial Church wedding. It was a perfect day!

During our final consultation with them Lilian & Seth decided that it would be best if we started photography with the ceremony but they wanted some of the commotion of the pre-wedding. We started in the round room with Seth, his family and the groomsmen. We took some shots of everyone and the excitement of the day. After, we joined Lilian, her family and the bridesmaids for a few photos in the bride’s room.

The ceremony was beautiful! Stanford Memorial Church is always so stunning and picturesque. After the family photos in the church we started solo portraits and all the other photos that we usually take during pre-wedding photography sessions.

Lilian had bought parasols for the bridesmaids, which made for great props for the photos. We had a lot of fun using them for both the girls and the guys.

We ended our time at Stanford with photos of just Lilian & Seth. Everyone else was at the Sheraton in Palo Alto relaxing before the reception.

Wedding Reception at the Sheraton in Palo Alto

As family is important for both Lilian & Seth, when we arrived at the Sheraton we set up for group family photos. We didn’t have enough time in the church all the family photos that were special for them so we decided to take the time we had before the cocktail hour to capture these meaningful photos.

Lilian is very creative and enjoys crafts. She created many special elements as décor for the reception. We made sure to photograph all the elements that made up the atmosphere of the reception.

After the toasts Lilian changed into her red Chinese dress and we had on final photo session by the koi pond at the Sheraton.

Wedding at the Ritz Carlton Half Moon Bay

A wedding at the Ritz Carlton Half Moon Bay whether it is a sunny day or a hazy day it is very romantic and beautiful.

We started the day off with the getting ready shots of the bride and the groom. We went to their suite, photographed the commotion of the day, final touches for the hair and make up, shaving for the groom, wedding gown, tux, flowers, and other details.  The bride and groom decided they could see each other before the ceremony, but the bride didn’t want to groom to see her in her wedding dress. When everyone was ready we started portraits of the groom with his family and wedding party. Then we photographed the bride her family and wedding party. They were all a lot of fun!

They had a beautiful Catholic Wedding Ceremony at Our Lady of the Pillar in Half Moon Bay. They exchanged their vows and rings in front of their friends and family. Following the ceremony there was time for some family photos in the church.

When we arrived at the hotel the wedding coordinator from the Ritz Carlton Hotel had a golf cart waiting for us to go to the beach for some fun and romantic photos of just the bride and groom. The guests were enjoying the cocktail hour so we had some time. We took a little more time to photograph some solo shots of each of them. Of course we did some romantic photos of the two of them on the bridge, the beach, and a few with the hotel in the background. The grounds of the Ritz Carlton are so beautiful for romantic wedding photos. These photos are always favorites of couples we photograph at the Ritz Carlton Half Moon Bay.

The banquet room was beautiful!  They had the Miramar I-III banquet rooms that over look the golf course.  After the touching toasts of the best man and maid of honor, dinner was served. The dancing started after dinner followed by the cutting of the cake and garter and bouquet toss. A perfect end to a perfect day!

San Francisco City Hall Wedding Photography

San Francisco City Hall Wedding Photography

Sometimes when couples come from out of the Bay Area for their elopement or a San Francisco City Hall Wedding they want to be sure the photos tell the story of their trip, not just city hall so they take a little more time for photos.

Lory & Chris came from Los Angeles to get married at San Francisco City Hall. Though they love city hall with it’s amazing architecture, they also wanted to some photos around San Francisco to preserve their wedding weekend memories.  They hired us for 3 hours of coverage so we could take some photos around the city.

We met them in the hallway in front of the county clerk’s office. While waiting for their turn we discussed what they wanted as far as photography.  The wedding was in the rotunda, beautiful! After the ceremony we photographed Lory & Chris in city hall at the various levels to get some variety of different looks. It’s also nice to get a few photos outside city hall as they were leaving.  Then it was off to a few San Francisco landmarks. Our first stop was Lombard Street (the crooked street) for a quick shot or two. We were on our way to the Palace of Fine Arts and Crissy Field when we saw the cable car on Hyde Street and stopped for a few shots there.

The Palace of Fine Arts is always a beautiful background for photos. We took more time there and walked around to use the grounds for some romantic photos. From the Palace of Fine Arts we were going to try Crissy Field to get the Golden Gate Bridge but, we were in San Francisco and the bridge was foggy and hazy! There are other places to photograph the bridge though and it was something they wanted so we tried another location. As luck would have it, we could see the bridge at that time so we made that our last stop.

Mountain Terrace Wedding For Elena & Geoff

Enjoy this video of Elena & Geoff’s Wedding at The Mountain Terrace

Mountain Terrace Wedding … Fun, Fun, Fun!

Wow, the one word that can sum up this Mountain Terrace wedding is FUN! I think that it was the goal of the Elena and Geoff and they accomplished it!

We had to split their photos in 2 parts, scroll down to view more.

Everything was positive and up beat from the moment they arrived. Elena walked in with a big smile, looked around and said, “Oh my God, I love my flowers!” (She was right though the flowers were colorful, spring-like, and beautiful.) Everything after that had the same tone. I don’t remember seeing either of them without a smile. The photos reflect the mood of the day. A phrase we heard from some of Elena’s friends was “Game On!” Game On is a game Elena’s soccer team plays. Many of the team members were at the wedding, so we heard “Game On” quite a few times during the day.

Elena is an athletic director and Geoff is in maintenance at the same school in San Francisco. Yes, you guessed it, they met at work. As the matron of honor said, “it was a match made in heaven.”

The photos started with the Geoff and his groomsmen. Of course we do some traditional poses, but it is always great to mix it up with some fun shots too. We used the great wooden patio furniture that they have at The Mountain Terrace, and of course their famous swing.

The guys had fun but I think Elena, the girls and the one bridesman had more fun. I hope you enjoy their photos. We had a hard time choosing which photos to include. We did so many different shots!

Wedding Reception

The reception was so much fun! I can’t remember a time when the dance floor was not full. I can easily say that most of the time Elena was there, dancing with her friends and the families. We were able to do some great effects for some of the dancing shots by playing with settings on the camera. I hope you enjoy the photos.

The Ceremony was performed by Rev. Richard Aptekar, view his website at: Sealed With A Kiss.

Melanie and Kwame’s Wedding

A few weeks ago we photographed a very small wedding at the Stanford Memorial Church. Well this wedding was the opposite. It has been a while since we have had a couple that wanted us to document their entire day. I must say it was fun!

Getting Ready Photography at the Garden Court Hotel

Getting ready photography started at the Garden Court Hotel in downtown Palo Alto. Many times only the bride’s getting ready shots are covered. (By the way, it’s usually the groom who looks at us during the pre-wedding consultation and says, “I don’t need that.”) Kwame and the guys were first with the photography. During the time in the hotel room a gift from Melanie arrived. It was a touching surprise for Kwame. When we arrived to Melanie’s room we started with photography her wedding dress, shoes, and other accessories. It was also fun photographing Melanie with the bridesmaids having hair and make-up done. Melanie too was touched by the gift that arrived from Kwame.

Portraits at Stanford

After the photography at the Garden Court Hotel, we met with Kwame and his groomsmen at Stanford for some portraits and fun group shots pre-wedding. We knew they were a fun group from the hotel photos so we had a lot of fun with the guys during the pre-wedding photography. We photographed Melanie and her entourage on campus after the wedding. Wedding Ceremony & Family Photos They had a beautiful wedding ceremony exchanging their vows in front of friends and family. There were lots of family photos that followed in the church. As all the family and friends went off to the reception we stay for a few romantic photos of just Melanie and Kwame.

Women’s Club of Palo Alto Wedding Reception

We ended the day with Melanie and Kwame’s reception at the Women’s Club of Palo Alto. Colleen Bataille of Inspired Events by CB not only beautifully managed the wedding reception but also the entire day. Thank you Colleen! Besides all the traditional formalities of a wedding reception they ended the evening with a “Sparkler Send-Off”. It was a lot of fun! Hope you enjoy the photos.

In 2014 we had the pleasure to photograph other weddings at Stanford Memorial Church, view Holly & Todd’s Wedding and Kristin and Tom’s wedding.

What a wonderful day! The original plan was an outdoor wedding on the Miramontes Terrace with the Pacific Ocean behind them, but about 15 minutes before the ceremony the skies opened up and the rain poured down.  While we were taking Becky’s pre-wedding photo session we saw all the people who were sitting by the fire pit on the Ocean Lawn run into the hotel for shelter. I must say I was worried but the ceremony in the Observatory was just as beautiful. They still had the ocean in the background, the love and support from the families and friends and no wind or threat of rain.

We started photography with Austin and the guys. They were a great group. When we arrived they were just finishing up getting ready. They all helped each other with the different parts their tuxedos, making sure their bowties were straight, vests right… We photographed the men outdoors (before the rain), just outside the room. I think we all had a good time they were fun to work with.

Becky, her family and wedding party were ready when we arrived at her room. She looked beautiful! You could tell that Becky and her wedding party were great friends because of how comfortable and easy it was to photograph them together.

After the ceremony and family photos, we went out with Becky and Austin for some photos of just the two of them on the bridge.

The reception was in the Miramar II room, a perfect space for amount to guests they had.  They wanted a photo with each table, so before dinner was served we went with them to each table and photographed all the guests.

The reception had only a few formalities but quite a lot of fun! There was a first dance, a toast by the best man, and cutting of the cake. Just before sunset we took Becky and Austin out one more time for some romantic photos with soft light. After that, dancing, dancing & dancing.

I hope you enjoy the photos and slideshow of this beautiful wedding at the Ritz Carlton Half Moon Bay.

Stanford Memorial Church Wedding Photography for Kristin and Tom

When most people hear about a wedding at Stanford Memorial Church wedding they think of a big wedding with lots of guests. Well Kristin and Tom’s wedding was at Stanford Memorial Church but it was neither big nor were there lots of guests. The wedding was simple. There were 5 guests, the bride & groom. It was a beautiful day and a wonderful ceremony. What was important for Kristin and Tom was capturing this special day with their families in this special place for them.

Wedding Photography at Stanford

We started with getting ready shots with the bride in the bride’s room of the Stanford Chapel as well as Kristin with her parents. Tom, his sister and family followed with some photos in the round room and near the church. Following the ceremony they wanted photos of themselves with their family around the campus so that their families could leave for the reception (dinner at their home). We stayed to do some more photography with Kristin and Tom using many of the beautiful landscapes and backgrounds of Stanford Campus. I must say it was nice not having the pressure of having the couple be in a hurry to get to the reception so that the guests would not have to wait too long. We were able to walk around the campus and take as many photographs as Kristin and Tom wanted. They had a few special places in mind and along the way when we found so beautiful structures we stopped for a shot time for some photos. We hope you enjoy these photos of this simple yet beautiful wedding.

Dana & Shaun’s Wedding

Beautiful day, wonderful surroundings, great friends and warm family all add up to a perfect wedding with wonderful photos.  We photographed Dana and Shaun’s wedding last weekend at the Mountain Terrace in Woodside, CA. The Mountain Terrace is so picturesque, overlooks the San Francisco Peninsula, which make for beautiful and romantic wedding photos!

Getting Ready Wedding Photos

The Hotel Sofitel in Redwood Shore is where Dana and Shaun were getting ready for their wedding. Dana was with her family, matron of honor and bridesmaid. Her make-up artist was finishing up her hair and make-up as we arrived. This gave us time to photography her wedding gown, shoes and other accessories. We continued photography as her mother and friends helped her with the laces of her wedding dress.

Shaun, his best man (brother) and groomsmen (friend since the beginning!) were in another room preparing for the big day. It was a little more low key, but important nonetheless.

Pre-Wedding Photography at the Mountain Terrace

Dana and Shaun ask for all the portraits to be taken at the Mountain Terrace. Pre wedding portraits solo and with the families were taken on the grounds. We finished all the photos just as guests started arriving. As they entered the grounds they stopped to sign the  engagement guestbook Dana and Shaun asked us to make from the photos we took at their engagement session.

Wedding Ceremony

With the San Francisco Peninsula as the backdrop Dana and Shaun exchanged their vows. They each had written about meeting the other for the first time, their impressions and how they saw their relationship progress. It was a great way to say what they felt for each other.

Wedding Reception

The wedding started off with touching speeches from the matron of honor and best man. The party started off with the first dance for Dana and Shaun as a married couple.  What followed was a lot of fun! Hope you enjoy the slideshow and the photos.

Groom’s Email

On Sunday at 8am in the morning after Lindsay and Shiva’s wedding as I was looking through the photographs my wife Ano and I took of their wedding, I received this email from Shiva.

Hi Hagop and Ano, Just wanted to thank the two of you for being our wedding photographers! Lindsay and I felt comfortable with both of you from day one and as I was driving her back home from the wedding, out of nowhere (in her sleepy, tired state) she turned to me and said that she was so happy that the two of you photographed our wedding and that even though she hadn’t seen the pictures yet, she said she knew they were going to come out great.

Personally what I love about the two of you is that you both felt like family to us throughout this process. Happy that you go to share our special day with us, and sorry for some of the craziness last night (big family and unexpected last minute photo requests).

Thank you so much! Regards, Shiva”

The University Club of Palo Alto Wedding Photography

Pre-Wedding Photography

Lindsay & Shiva’s wedding and reception was held at the University Club of Palo Alto. All of the pre-wedding photography was at the Crown Plaza in Palo Alto. Shiva, his family and groomsmen’s photos were all taken in the lobby area of the hotel and Lindsay, her family and bridesmaids were in her suite. For Lindsay we did getting ready shots as well as solo portraits, family photos and bridal party shots. Her make up was done by Sarah, the owner and lead makeup artist/stylist at Bloom Boutique.

University Club of Palo Alto

When we finished all the pre-wedding photography we went to The University Club of Palo Alto where the ceremony and reception were held. The University Club is a beautiful setting for a wedding. They chose to have the ceremony outdoors on the lawn with the background of the trees and greenery. Subtle up lighting created a great mood for the Clubhouse Banquet Room during the reception.

They decided to do most of the photos before the reception so we captured their “first look” just before the formal family photos. The first look was a wonderful moment for both of them. The ceremony followed. Lindsay & Shiva exchanged their vows in front of their families and friends. It was a beautiful setting for a special moment. As the cocktail hour began in the ballroom we finished formal family photos and some other fun bridal party shots. Take a look at the “superhero” shirts!

Wedding Reception

The Clubhouse Banquet Room is a beautiful place for a reception. The high beam ceiling and long glass windows give a light and airy feel. During the reception they also had access to the patio area, which gave guests an option to be outside among the oak trees and nature. Lindsay & Shiva had all the formalities of a wedding reception like the great toasts, first dance, parent’s dance, cake cutting… I must say though that it was a crowd that loved to dance! Once the music began almost everyone was up and dancing. Lindsay, Shiva and their families were wonderful to work with. It was great meeting them all and sharing this special day with them.

They have many different options.

Our clients like receiving their digital headshot files on the plugs we offer and they keep and use them for their files. We receive phone calls from them that they want to update their headshots and when we ask them how did you hear about us, they say you did my headshot 3 years ago and I have your contact information on the usb plug you gave me.

Pre-Wedding Photography

From time to time we photograph weddings that are not in the Bay Area. Lorig & Stephen’s wedding was in Los Angeles. It was a wonderful wedding, rich with Armenian wedding traditions, family, friends, faith and of course love.

We started photography with Lorig at the house of a family friend. She was surrounded by family, friends, music, dancing and food. We photographed her solo, with her bridesmaids and family and of course all the festivities.

Stephen’s portraits solo, with his groomsmen and family were photographed at the

United Armenian Congregational Church in Los Angeles (where there ceremony was held). The groomsmen were a lot of fun!

They recited their vow surrounded by family, friends and their faith. It was a beautiful ceremony.

Fun and Romantic Photos

After the family photos at the alter Lorig & Stephen wanted some photos at Pasadena City Hall. We had never been there before so before we went to Los Angeles we found many photos on the Internet of Pasadena City Hall. It really is a beautiful place for wedding photos. We followed the limo with Lorig & Stephen and the wedding party. We photographed some fun and romantic photos.

The Wedding Reception

The wedding reception was held at The Ritz Ballroom at St. Leon Armenian Cathedral, which has a stunning banquet hall for weddings. Like most weddings there was a grand entrance where the DJ introduced the parent’s of the bride and groom, wedding party, then the newlyweds. The difference with an Armenian wedding is that they are introduced with traditional wedding music and start off the festivities with music and dance. It’s a great way to start the party off!

They had all the traditions of speeches, first dance, cutting of the cake, bouquet and garter toss… It was an awesome day for a great couple! There’s an Armenian saying that is always said at weddings, “May the bride and groom grow old on one pillow”

Engagement Portrait Session at the Beach

We had a great time with Dana & Shaun in Pacifica for their engagement portrait session. Photographing an engagement portrait session with a couple whose wedding we are going to shoot is perfect. We get to know them better and they get to know us better. On the wedding day we both have an idea of who we are and how we are going to work.

San Pedro Valley Park

We started at San Pedro Valley Park and then went to Linda Mar Beach for some romantic sunset shots. For us it was the first time at both locations.
San Pedro Valley Park was a beautiful park. We found a number of good spots for photography. Being in front of the camera takes some getting used to for everyone. After they got comfortable, they started having some fun. We decided to leave and go to the beach so we could make it before the sun went down.

Linda Mar Beach

When we got to Linda Mar Beach it was close to sunset. They decided to have a different look at the second location so Dana and Shaun changed their clothes. They wanted their beach photos to include some romantic sunset photography. As we waited for just the right time, we had some fun taking some photos along the shore, in the grass and sitting on the sand. Then came the silhouette sunset photos! We are so lucky to have beaches close by so we can get these dramatic sunset engagement portraits.

I hope you enjoy the photos we took for Dana and Shaun. We enjoyed getting to know them better. Look for their wedding photos in September. They are having their wedding at The Mountain Terrace in Woodside.

Wedding at San Francisco City Hall

Wedding at San Francisco City Hall

Please read the wedding blog below the video slide show and scroll down to view photographs from their wedding.

We just photographed a wedding at San Francisco City Hall for a very cute couple from Mississippi. They are not your typical Mississippi couple though she is from Japan and he from Iran. They met at while attending Ole Miss.

It is always fun for us to photograph a city hall wedding. Most of the time the couples have come from out of state specifically to get married at San Francisco City Hall. Why you say? Simply because it is beautiful!

We met our couple in the hallway in front of the county clerk’s office. While waiting for their turn we discussed what they wanted as far as photography. They had printed some photos from the Internet that they liked and wanted us to take a look at those.

Hagop was their witness, so when their number came up the three of them met with the judge to sign the paperwork. They were the first of three (usually there are four) couples for the 1:00pm hour in the rotunda.

Of course we photographed the ceremony, then used the beautiful architecture of the building and photographed them in various different locations. It was a lot of fun. They were a great couple to work with. We wish them all the luck with their new lives together.

We hope you enjoy viewing the photographs we took from their San Francisco City Hall wedding!

Stanford Wedding

This week we photographed a wedding blessing (they were already married) at Stanford Memorial Church with a Stanford Faculty Club wedding reception for Holly and Todd. I think we were all worried that the heat we had during the week would carry on to the weekend, but no, they couldn’t have ordered better weather.

It seemed that Holly and Todd did their best to keep things simple and fun. All photography was on Stanford Campus. Stanford Memorial Church and Stanford Faculty Club are walking distance from each other, and I think many of the guests parked by Faculty Club and walked to the church. Flowers were kept to the essentials i.e. bouquets, groom’s boutonniere and reception flowers. The fun? Well, that was their friends and families!

We photographed Todd, his family and his attendants first. They were a great group and easy to work with. We had enough time to photograph all the photos they wanted. After the guys were hidden we photographed Holly, her family and attendants. They were just as fun to work with. Holly looked stunning in her beautiful wedding gown.

Stanford Memorial Church Wedding Photography

After the ceremony and the formal family photos, we did some photography around campus of just Holly and Todd. They had a few “must have” photos for example in front of the church and with Hoover Tower in the background. The while walking to the Faculty Club we stopped a few times for some romantic photos. They were excited to get the reception and spend time with all their family and friends.

Stanford Faculty Club Wedding

At the reception everyone was ready for the party to start. Holly and Todd had rented a photo booth for guests to take pictures and make a guestbook from the photos. It looked like guests were having a good time with it.

In keeping with keeping things simple, there were not many formalities. They had some great toasts from Holly’s sister, Todd brother and Holly’s parents. Holly and Todd said “Thank You”. Then after mingling a bit the party took off. They were a energetic crowd. DJ Matthew Cope played some great dance music that got everyone on their feet. By request he even played YMCA and The Chicken Dance, which got almost every guest dancing. They were a wild and crazy group, lots of fun!

Wedding Photography at the Mountain Terrace

Enjoy this video of Jennifer and Jonathan’s wedding at The Mountain Terrace. Scroll down to read  our blog and view their photos.

Simple and elegant, that’s what Jennifer and Jonathan wanted for their wedding and I think they achieved it. Wedding photography at The Mountain Terrace is beautiful. Black and white was the theme. The flowers were a beautiful mix of roses and hydrangeas provided by Chrystal at Sweet Pea Floral Designs. The men were all in black tuxes and the bridesmaids and maid of honor in black dresses, all of them were a different style.

We arrived a little before Jennifer and Jonathan to get some photos of the preparation and set up at the Mountain Terrace. After Jennifer and her wedding party arrived, we started photographing the “getting ready” shots of the girls helping Jennifer. We had fun and I think the girls did too.

The first look was very important for both Jennifer and Jonathan. Before we started on photography for the bride’s side and then the groom’s we captured the first time Jennifer and Jonathan saw each other before the ceremony, it was a magical moment.

We started photography with Jennifer, her family and the bridesmaids and maid of honor. After the girls, it was time for Jonathan, his family and bestman and groomsmen. We had fun with both the guys and the girls!

The Magnolia Jazz Band played during the ceremony. The ceremony was performed be Jennifer’s brother Michael. He presented a touching ceremony. During the ceremony they had a Wine Box Ceremony, this was the first for us. Jennifer and Jonathan had written letters to each other. They placed the sealed letters in the box and locked. They will open the box on their 10th anniversary and read the letters to each other.

It was a wonderful evening reception with great company. DJ Chad from Denon & Doyle played music that got everyone up and dancing! The guests were also entertained by Pix.Co Photobooth for some crazy photos.

Hope you enjoy the photos we took. Please be sure to watch the video and see more on our Facebook page. Feel free to leave a comment.

Pre-Wedding Photography at the Mountain Terrace in Woodside, CA

What a perfect day! Wedding photography at the Mountain Terrace is beautiful, but as with all outdoor venues lighting can be challenging. Nature was with us for Dori and Ian’s wedding. We were asked to photograph just the pre-wedding photographs, ceremony, family and some romantic photographs. Photography started with the “’first look”. It is great to capture the first time a couple see each other on their wedding day. The pre-wedding photography followed with portraits, Dori and Ian’s solo photos as well as family and wedding party photos.

Wedding Ceremony at The Mountain Terrace

As guest started to arrive, we finished the pre-wedding photography and did some candid photographs of the guests mingling as well as detail photos of the venue set-up. One of the guests played beautiful acoustic guitar during this time. Isn’t it great having talented friends? Just as the ceremony was about to begin the clouds formed overhead and the sun shifted enough that the light was great for the wedding. It was perfect timing. We could not have asked for anything more for outdoor wedding photography. They had hired an accordionist to play during the ceremony and the cocktail hour. It was a bit different but a pleasant change from the normal string trio or quartet. Believe or not the sun came out as soon as the ceremony ended so it was perfect weather for guests during cocktail hour.

Family photos and Romantic Moments

Family photos followed during the cocktail hour. We finished our time with some romantic photos of just Dori and Ian. We even photographed them in front of a classic Jaguar. We left them to enjoy their wedding reception!

Mountain Terrace Wedding Photography for Archana & Zachary

What a fun and cute couple! She is Indian, he is American from West Virginia, they met in San Francisco and got married on a Monday!

When they first contacted us, we receive an email with the title Mountain Terrace Wedding photography. Archana and Zachary were in India doing the official engagement and bought many decorations for the wedding. The wedding was at the Mountain Terrace in Woodside, CA, a beautiful venue on Skyline that overlooks the San Francisco Peninsula. They wanted their photos to reflect the story of their wedding day. In order to achieve the storytelling we started while they we still setting up. They and their friends and family were all helping with the set up for the wedding. It was a great community effort!

Of course we photographed the bride and groom individually and with their families and friends. We also documented the getting ready shots that not only included make-up & hair, but also both of the bride’s beautiful dresses that she had brought back from India.

Wedding Ceremony at the Mountain Terrace

The ceremony was on the lawn with the trees and peninsula as the backdrop, it is always such a beautiful scene. The ceremony included many aspects of Indian culture and traditions. It was wonderful. Right after the ceremony before the reception started we took a group shot of everyone that attended.

Wedding Reception at the Mountain Terrace

The reception was a lot of fun. They had a photo booth that always makes for some good shots for us of people getting ready. Besides the traditional first dance and throwing of the bouquet, they also played some games that pitted the men against the women. The point was to answer a number of questions about the bride and groom to see who knew them better. It was fun to watch the competition!

The night ended with dancing and a few last romantic photographs of the bride and groom out on the deck with the Mountain Terrace and lights in the background.

Stanford Memorial Church Wedding Wente Vineyard Reception

Stanford Memorial Church Wedding Photography And Wente Vineyard  Wedding Reception

Sometimes we meet couples and we think, “They’re right for each other, they’ve found the right person.” that what we think about Gina and Juan. Granted they have been with each other for almost 10 years, but they truly compliment each other. Their wedding was at Stanford Memorial Church with a reception at Wente Vineyards in Livermore, CA. These are two beautiful venues for a wedding.

Pre Wedding Photography

We started photography with Gina, her attendants, and family at The Hilton San Francisco Airport Bayfront hotel. When we arrived Gina and the girls were getting finishing touches done to hair and make-up. We captured those moments in addition we photographed the bride’s gown, bridesmaids dresses, shoes, flowers… After they were all dressed we were ready for pre wedding photos.

We then went to Stanford to meet Juan and his groomsmen for their photos. They were a lighthearted fun group!

The Wedding Ceremony at Stanford Memorial Church

For the ceremony Gina and Juan followed some traditions that were important to their families. They incorporated the Lazo and Arras into their ceremony. The Lazo is a cord or large rosary draped around the necks or shoulders of the bride and the groom affirming their union and their commitment to always be together side-by-side. The Arras are thirteen gold coins the groom gives the bride as a symbol of his unquestionable trust and confidence placed in her as his beloved wife and gives the responsibility of all of his material to her.  The acceptance on her part assures him back of her total love and dedication in looking after him, his possessions and her unconditional love. Once the ceremony and family photos were finished everyone but Gina and Juan were on their way to the wedding reception at Wente Vineyards.  We stayed on campus with Gina and Juan for some romantic and fun photos of just the two of them.

Wente Winery Wedding Reception

When we arrived at the reception it was shaping up to be a fun party! Juan welcomed everyone and the festivities began. The reception was at Wente Winery Golf Lawn an area next to the clubhouse. They had a photo booth, lawn games, traditional Mexican & Filipino dancer (the dancers included Gina’s parents!), and Tequila tasting.

Wedding Photography at the Mountain Terrace

The Mountain Terrace is always a wonderful place for a wedding. The view of the peninsula is breathtaking. With all the redwoods and greenery we always get beautiful photos. This week for Orna & Paul the weather cooperated too. It wasn’t too hot or too cold, they couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful day. This Outdoor Wedding at Mountain Terrace was perfect!

Orna & Paul decided to see each other before the ceremony to greet their guests as they arrived. We photographed solo and family photos before the ceremony, but not before a first look. It was a wonderful moment for both of the when the first saw each other. An awesome way to start off the day!

Jewish Wedding Traditions

There were many Jewish Wedding Traditions that Orna & Paul decided to incorporate in there wedding day. The first was the signing of the Ketubah, which is a Jewish legal document that confirms the religious bond of marriage. This was a private ceremony for the family and some close friends. They had the Ketubah ceremony a bit before the wedding ceremony. They were married under the chuppah representing the home they will build together. The chanting of the Sheva Brachot (Seven Blessings). With the final tradition being the breaking of the glass symbolizing the end of their separate lives and the beginning of life as a married couple. The act is a reminder that relationships are fragile and must be treated with great care, love and mutual respect.

The Wedding Reception

The wedding reception for Orna & Paul was all about have fun and enjoying the company good friends and family. The only formalities they decided to follow were toasts and the throwing of the garter and bouquet. The rest of the evening was pure fun!

Wedding Celebration at Hidden Villa

Wedding Celebration at Hidden Villa

We recently were asked to photograph a wedding celebration at Hidden Villa in Los Altos. The couple is already married. It will be July of this year. It had been a while since we photographed an event there so we thought we would go back and revisit the photos took to help us remember Hidden Villa. We photographed both the engagement photos and wedding reception of a couple a few years ago at the Hidden Villa. We remembered why we like this venue so much. It’s a beautiful place and has a great, organic rustic feel.

We decided to write this blog because there were so many photos we like. We thought it would be nice to show you not only wedding photos but also some of the engagement photos we photographed for them at Hidden Villa.

The wedding was on the lawn in front The Dana Center. The view of the valley behind the reception was breathtaking. Cutting of the cake, dancing and socializing took place both inside and outside The Dana Center.

All the photographs taken on this blog were on the grounds of the property. This couple wanted to take advantage of the beautiful grounds. We walked around when it was the soft light and the guests were busy dancing and took a lot of photos. Believe it or not there are so many places on the property that we didn’t even get to. This couple wanted more greenery and nature. There are also many structures, old barn etc. that are great for photography.

50th Anniversary Party & Vow Renewal

4 years ago when we photographed Joyce and Lawrence’s son’s wedding, Joyce told us that their 50th Anniversary was going to be in 4 years and that we should expect a call. Last year she contacted us and we just photographed their 50th Anniversary Vow Renewal. It was such an inspiring event!

We started photography at their home. Photography was of course just Joyce and Lawrence but also their family (children and grandchildren). All photos we either in their beautiful garden or in their home.

Vow Renewal Ceremony

The vow renewal ceremony took place at the Stone Church of Willow Glen where they and their family are active. As they entered the church together Joyce and Lawrence greeted their friends and family with hugs and handshakes, smile and tears! All of the family was involved somehow in the ceremony, whether it was the reading by their daughter, or music performed by their son, his wife and their cousin. The grandchildren also were also involved in many ways. It was a wonderful and emotional ceremony. Before we left for the reception it was important that we get a group shot of everyone attending in front of the church.

Reception

The reception, actually party, was at the Santa Clara Marriott. The music they chose was music from their youth all 60’s rock. Their grand entrance was “Good Golly Miss Molly”, First Dance, “Unchanged Melody”, and the guests all did “The Stroll”. It was a lot of fun! They had 50 years of friends and family memories that filled the room with love and laughter.

Of course there were a few surprises for Joyce and Lawrence arranged by their children and grandchildren. The grandchildren read their prepared speeches and sung a special song. Their daughter and son in-law prepare a slideshow of their life together, and their son and daughter in-law danced a hula. We enjoyed being a part of this wonderful event. I hope you all enjoy the photos we took for them.

Stanford Church Wedding with a Sheraton Palo Alto Reception

Melanie and Ken held their wedding ceremony at Stanford Memorial Church then celebrated their wedding reception at the Sheraton Hotel in Palo Alto. From the first meeting we liked Melanie and Ken. They were extremely polite and just really nice people, we were so happy when they asked us to do their Stanford Church Wedding Photography and reception at Sheraton Hotel in Palo Alto.

We started photography on the beautiful Stanford Campus with Ken, his family and his best man and groomsman. It was such a busy day on campus and challenging to find space without people in the background. We were able to find a great spot under the arches and had a lot of fun photographing Ken, his family and the guys. We did some traditional shots and mixed some fun poses in to lighted things up.

Melanie and her family were getting ready in the bride’s room at the Memorial Church. We start there for her putting on the final touches. She looked beautiful. Her sisters were her maid of honor and bridesmaid, which kept things simple. It was great because they know each other so well they could relax and have fun.

A wedding ceremony at Stanford Memorial is just magical. If you have never been to the Memorial Church, it should be on your list of things to do one day. The Stanford Church is gorgeous and the organ makes for a magical ceremony.

While their guests went to the Sheraton Hotel to start the reception, we stayed on campus with Melanie and Ken to do some photography of just the two of them. We were able to capture many different sides of them. The photos show their romantic, and  playful sides and some of candids are just them being themselves.

They had for their reception the Justine Room at the Sheraton Hotel. It was set-up nicely so that they had a space for dinner and socializing and a place to dance and have fun. All in all it was a great day. We hope you enjoy the photos and the slideshow. Let us know what you think.

She was still in Russia waiting for her visa so she could come here to marry Kurt. They met on the Internet, he visited her, spent some time with her and they were engaged in July last year. Now all they needed was the paperwork to go through. He told us they were hoping for a February or March wedding. During the initial consultation, he asked a lot of questions and took a lot of notes and photos of our albums to show Natalia. He also showed us photos of the two of them. When we were finished he told us that when he had a better idea of the date he would contact us again.

In January we reached out to Kurt to see how things were going. The paperwork (as usual) was taking more time than they thought and he wrote, “We are sure we will have to push out our wedding date until at least April, and quite possibly later. I will let you know when we have some new information on our date.”

Wedding Date: May 10, 2013

In March we received this email from them while they were still in Russia:

“Hello Hagop,

I am happy to tell you we have finally confirmed our wedding date and we want to hire your service for our photography.

The wedding date is Friday, May 10th…”

We met with them after they returned. They were great together! They decided to do an engagement portrait session at Stanford to get some experience in front of the camera. Kurt called it “a test shooting session”. We all had a great time please feel free to view it Engagement Portraits for Natalia & Kurt.

Natalia & Kurt’s Wedding and Reception

They had a beautiful wedding ceremony at Valley Presbyterian Church Natalia’s mother was even able to make it, which was difficult because everything was so last minute. The wedding reception at Gamble Gardens in Palo Alto was perfect for the. Beautiful surrounds, great flowers by Three Sisters Flowers & Events, and great food by Continental Caterers.

“Longer” by Dan Fogelberg and “If” by the band Bread were the songs Kurt sang to Natalia at their wedding reception. It was very romantic! We hope you enjoy the photos we took during the wedding. Let us know what you think!

San Francisco City Hall Wedding Photography for Anna & Adam

On Saturday September 21st we received the following email:

“Hi! My name is Anna, this is really last minute, but my future husband and I are getting married on Monday, Sep 23 at 2:00p at city hall, and we just realized that a photographer is probably a good idea.. Would you be available by any chance?… Guests include only our parents (6 ppl total including us) …

Thank you, Anna”

We were available and met Anna, Adam and their parents at San Francisco City Hall for the wedding. For those that have never been to San Francisco City Hall it is a beautiful place to get married. There is an amazing rotunda where most weddings are held. There are also so great areas within the building for photography while waiting for your turn to get married. It is truly an memorable venue for a city hall wedding.

Anna and Adam are sweet people. They are both very shy in front of the camera though. We worked around this and got them a little more at ease by starting with family photos. We tried to make this light and fun. I think near the end of the session though they became more comfortable.

We started photography while waiting in line for their appointment. The photos were candids, filling out paperwork etc. Then since we had some time we went out in city hall and took some photos of both families together and separately. We enjoyed meeting and photographing Anna and Adam’s wedding at San Francisco City Hall. It was great meeting their parents as well.

We hope you enjoyed browsing through the photographs.

Mountain Terrace Wedding

We have been photographing weddings at Mountain Terrace since it first opened for events. It is a beautiful venue at Woodside Road and Skyline Blvd. with a gorgeous view. Between Jennifer & Lincoln they have 4 boys, ages 15 years and up, whom they have been raising together. At this Mountain Terrace wedding they united their family surrounded by family and close friends. It was beautiful!

The day started at the 4 Seasons Hotel in Silicon Valley where everyone was getting ready. We started photography with Lincoln and the boys. He helped them get ready and they helped him, we captured the process. We then went to photograph Jennifer and her bridesmaids. Their makeup artist was still there putting the finishing touches on Jennifer. We captured the ladies helping her put on her wedding gown then we went down to the lobby to documents the first time they saw each other before leaving for the Mountain Terrace.

Jennifer saw the Mountain Terrace with a different eye. She took this great venue and made it into something new. They brought in different tables and chairs for their lawn dinner. There were couches and up lighting on the inside. They even brought in a guy to make buttons and magnets and Harvey’s Gourmet Donuts, who makes fresh donuts on the spot.

During the ceremony Jennifer & Lincoln had a sand ceremony. They not only combined each of their sand into one vessel but also had a jar of sand for each of the boys to add to the jar, symbolizing the uniting of their family.

The rest of the evening was full of dancing, laughter and fun! They had the formalities of weddings, ie. toasts, throwing of the garter and bouquet and the cutting of the cake. After all that it was time to enjoy the evening. We hope you enjoy the photos we captured during this special day for Jennifer & Lincoln.

Baker Beach Engagement Photos

Baker Beach Engagement Photos

Paul and Lisa were considering many places in San Francisco to have their engagement portrait photography session. They finally decided on 2 locations Legion of Honor and Baker Beach. I think they were great choices. I love the columns and the grandeur of Legion of Honor. Baker Beach Engagement Photos with the Golden Gate Bridge in the background and the waves crashing is true romantic San Francisco. We started at the Legion of Honor. (Click the link to see photos from the Legion of Honor engagement portraits).

Lisa and Paul wanted to have an engagement portrait session. It was one of the things they asked about during our initial meeting for their wedding photography. During the meeting they saw the sample of our signature guest book that we design for our clients for their wedding day. It’s a guest book with their engagement photos designed with room on the pages for guests to write their comments. They decided that they would choose the signature guest book as a magazine style album with their Baker Beach Engagement Photos and a matted album for their wedding album images.

Baker Beach is an amazing place for fun and romantic engagement portraits. Couples can play on the beach or walk along the shore. Lisa and Paul did some dancing in the waves. It’s always a must to get some shots with the Golden Gate Bridge in the background when you’re in San Francisco. We ended the evening with beautiful, romantic sunset shots.

I hope you enjoy the slide show video of Lisa and Paul’s Baker Beach Engagement Photos! Read more about our Engagement Portrait Photography.

Wedding at Maverick Event Center In HMB

Wedding at Maverick Event Center

Getting Ready Photos

Well this is the last wedding of the year! Courtney and Scott were married on December 28, 2013 at the Maverick Event Center in Half Moon Bay, CA. It’s a beautiful location, and the ceremony overlooked the ocean. Very romantic!

Photography started with “getting ready shots” of Courtney at the Ritz Carlton Half Moon Bay. Courtney had her Mom, sister, sister in law and some close friends helping her get ready. It was a must to get some fun shots of the girls in their matching robes. Most of the portrait photography was done in the hotel room with soft window light.

Upstairs at the Maverick Event Center (my guess a “brides room”) is where we photographed Scott’s “getting ready shots” and his photos with his family.

Wedding Details

We had some time before the ceremony to photograph details of the wedding reception. Courtney had some wonderful decorations, instead of place cards she had candleholders with guests’ names, lace placemats for each place setting, the centerpieces were succulents… take a look at the photos.

Wedding Ceremony

The ceremony spot was just next to the Maverick Event Center with an amazing view of the ocean. It was a perfect day for an ocean wedding. The sun was out and the water and sky were blue. Courtney and Scott exchanged their vows in front of the families and close friends on this gorgeous day.

Photos with friends and family were very important for Courtney and Scott so after the ceremony everyone got their turn. It started with a group shot of everyone attending. After, we did family and friend groups. Thanks the Aunt Pam’s help we finished all the photography ahead of schedule and Courtney & Scott were able to spend time with their guests during the cocktail hour.

Romantic Photos

Just before sunset we went out with Courtney and Scott for some final romantic photography…Take a look.

Reception Photos

The party was a lot of fun! They had a candy and cookie bar, as well as Smore’s out by the fire pit.
